Vince Hayes was a full-back who played a collective 128 times for Newton Heath, and the, then newly formed Manchester United between 1901 and 1910; fitting in a season long spell at Brentford during the 1907-08 campaign. Hayes made his Newton Heath debut on 25 February 1901 in a 1-1 draw with Walsall at West Bromwich Road; with his only goal for United coming in a 6-1 romp over Port Vale on New Years Eve 1904.
During his two spells at United he helped the club win the F.A Cup in 1909; playing in every round, which culminated in a 1-0 Final victory over Bristol City at Crystal Palace. In 1911 he made one sole appearance, against Nottingham Forest as United lifted the League Championship for the second time in four seasons.
