During his 18 years at Manchester Unietd Stan Pearson formed a formidable goalscoring partnership with fellow striker Jack Rowley, between them netting an incredible 360 goals for the club.

Pearson was an excellent creator of goals and superb finisher and with his silky skills was the perfect foil for his strike partner's more robust style of play. As with Rowley he lost six years of the his Manchester United career to the war.

Born in Salford, Pearson Joined Manchester United as a 15 year old school boy in 1936, making his debut at the age of 17 in a 7-1 vicotory over Chesterfield on 13 November 1937, he then went on to net goals is next two appearances. However his great start to life at Manchester United was brought to an abrupt end by the outbreak of World War II, when he was just 19 years of age. He served his country in the Second/Fourth South Lancashires, which ended upn taking him to India where played in a British Army touring team to help lift the morale of the troops.

Once the war had ended, One-by-one, Pearson and the rest of the Manchester United players who had served in the armed forces returned back to club, to play for new manager Sergeant-Major Matt Busby.

In 1954 Stan Pearson signed for local side Bury and then went on to play for and manage Chester City.

Ironically, on retirement from the game Pearson followed in the footsteps of his great friend Jack Rowley and worked as a sub-postmaster for his local Post-Office.
