Roy Keane or Keano as he was also known was a no nonsense combative midfielder whose never say attitude on the pitch helped Manchester united win seven English League titles, four F.A. Cups and the UEFA Chamions League in 1999, Additionally to the success he had with Manchester United the midfielder picked up the Scottish League and League Cup double during his eleven game spell north of the border at Celtic.
As well as his great success at club level, Roy Keane played 66 times for the Republic of Ireland, scoring 9 times. Unfortunately despite guiding the emerald isle to two World Cup Finals, in 1994 and 2002, he would become more famous for his famous walk-out in the latter before a ball had even been kicked. However, with this in mind is should be stated that Roy Keane is the greatest player ever to have pulled on the green shirt of Ireland.
After retiring from football in 2006, the Irishman went into football management with Sunderland, guiding them from the foot of the Championship table, to Championship champions in his first seaason in charge. In the summer of 2009 Keane took over the reigns at Suffolk's Ipswich Town.
