The Brazalian footballer began his career as a box-to-box defensive midfielder, who has been likened to Manchester United legend Roy Keane. When he was 17 he signed for Brazalian clunb Internacianol.
It was whilst playing for Intarnacional's youth team that Manchester United's Brazilian based coach, John Calvert-Toulmin came across the player when he was reporting on full-backs Fabio and Rafael Da Silva for the club.
In January 2008 Rodrigo signed for Manchester United and because he had a dual Italian-Brazilian passport he didn't require a work-permit.
His competitive debut for Manchester United came on 17 August 2008 when he replaced Ryan Giggs as a second half substitute in the Premier League 1-1 draw against Newcastle United.
