Denis Law Introduction Denis Law or simply "The King" as he was also known, is perhaps the greatest striker ever to have pulled on the famous red of Manchester United. During his eleven year spell at Old Trafford the striker netted a magnifcant 237 goals in just 398 matches, which helped the club win two League titles, one F.A. Cup and the European Cup in 1968, although he was cruelly ruled out of the final of the latter due to a cartilage injury.Law's prolific goal scoring record for club and country (30 goals in 55 matches for Scotland) earned him a reputation as one of the most feared forwards on the planet, a feat that didn't go without reward, as he picked up the prestigious European Footballer of the Year award in 1964, when he pipped Spain's and Inter Milan's Luis Suarez to the prize. As well as his glittering career with Manchester United Denis Law also played for Huddersfield Town, Italian giants Torino and had two spells with local rivals Manchester City, where, in his second spell has been accredited with the dubious honour of having scored the goal that relegated United to the old Second Division (a view that is incorrect as his forner club would've have been relegated anyway). In total Law made 629 professional appearances, scoring a fantastic 326 goals. Denis Law Honours Manchester United First Division (League Title): 1965, 1967 FA Cup: 1963 European Cup: 1968
Personal Honours European Footballer of the Year: 1964
