During a twenty-two year career the combative midfield general took in playing spells with West Bromwich Albion and Middlesborough, but it was with Manchester United that he developed into one of the greatest players to have graced the beautiful game. During his time at Old Trafford he became the club's longest ever serving captain (1984-96) and picked up two league titles, four F.A. Cups, one League Cup and the UEFA European Cup Winners' Cup in 1991, contributing 99 goals in 437 appearances in the process.
As well as becoming long serving captain with Manchester United Bryan Robson, did likewise with England, skippering them 65 times in his 90 appearances, which is a record only surpassed by legends Billy Wright and Bobby Moore (both captained England on 90 occassions).
Before retiring from playing football in 1996 Robosn had played over 700 games collectively for West Bromwich Albion, Manchester United, Middlesborough and England, scoring over 175 goals, which is an outstanding record for a midfielder.
